Boston Skeptics in the Pub: October 20!

I know, we just finished our fun drinky time with Blake Stacey’s marvelous September talk, but it’s time to look to the future: Sid Rodrigues of London Skeptics in the Pub will be gracing our stage in two short weeks!

Also, we have the opportunity to get together the following Monday (the 27th). Are you all tuckered out, or ready for more? We could have a costume party, spooky-themed skeptical trivia, or just a night of hanging out.

OR, we could have a costumed skeptical bar hop on Friday the 31st. Please, people, tell me what to do! (I’m soliciting comments here, on Facebook, and Skepchick just to hedge my bets.) The full details of our October 20 event are after the jump!

WHO
This month’s guest speaker is Sid Rodrigues, speaking on the topic of How Tigger Lost His Boing: Molecular Quackery.

Sid is organizer of London’s Skeptics in the Pub and the UK’s The Skeptic Magazine. He’ll also give the crowd a brief overview of the history of Skeptics in the Pub.

I am keen to halloween! If people are into doing it early at Tommy Doyle’s we’ll volunteer to help spice up the decor. But if everyone would rather go out on Halloween proper to pub crawl, count us in too.

We have costumes and are ready to partay. :)

I have been a unwitting skeptic all my life, and within the past six months, an ardent supporter of the skeptical movement (due mainly to a discovery of the Skeptics’ Guide and James Randi.) However, I am also a complete master in the art of and being timid.
Along with being a skeptic , I am a de facto alcoholic (read: college student) and I have wanted to attend Boston Skeptics in the Pub for quite some time, but am petrified at the idea. Finally, I have committed to attending, but have no idea of how to go about introducing myself, any help?

Hi Tyler,

Sure! All you have to do is walk up to me and say “Hello, I’m the shy one.” I’ll introduce you to the nicest people I know, and you’ll be just fine.

I’ll be the girl in the glasses holding the microphone every now and again. :)

Looking forward to meeting you!

do we all have to dress up like darwin for the halloween party or is that just strongly recommended?

Hey Tyler,

I’m pretty shy myself, and this will be my first skeptics in the pub. I’m the only skeptic I know, so I’ll be in the same boat!
