It’s going to be a good one! Here’s the info again:
This month’s guest speaker is Tim Farley, who runs the web site What’s The Harm?, where he details the injustices caused by belief in superstition and pseudoscience.

Just a quick cross-post from Skepchick:
Happy Darwin Day, everyone! Obviously you all know it already, and I (usually?) hate to beat a dead and fossilized horse, but there are amusing shenanigans afoot.
1. I’ll be at the Harvard Darwin Day party tonight around 8pm. You should be, too! If you’re not around my neck of the woods, check out DarwinDay.org to find something local.
2. I just published a short Darwin Day post over on Bostonist. Go, read, enjoy!
3. Today’s your last day to enter the Skepchick Darwinian Playlist Contest. Go, listen, compile!
4. If you’re on Twitter, I’m running a mini contest to find the best Darwinian Pick-up Line! Make it short and sweet (or dirty) and include the hashtag #DarwinPickup. You can follow me here, and the Skepchicks account here. Here are previous Skepchick pick-up lines.
5. Finally, check out this great Origin of Species cake made by an SGU listener!

I’m being lazy today and x-posting at Skepchick, Boston Skeptics, and the SGU Blog. I’ve had a rough morning, so I’m allowed.
First of all, thanks to everyone who came out to Boston Skeptics in the Pub last night! We had about 70 people packed into Tommy Doyle’s top floor to hear Sam Moulton talk about Twins, Telepathy, and Smut. The main gripe was that there wasn’t enough smut, so for December I’m thinking of booking a porn star to talk about the science of . . . well, the science of anything she wants to talk about, I guess.
As soon as the December event is booked, I’ll let the world know. Stay tuned for that, as well as the audio and hopefully the video from Sam’s talk! We’re working on producing a regular Boston Skeptics in the Pub podcast for those of you outside the Hub of the Universe.
In the meantime, let’s go to the mailbag!
Today’s letter dropped into my Skepchick in-box like manna from heaven. The letter may as well have had the subject line, “Please open: I am ready for your ridicule!” Here it is, unedited, in its entirety:

I know, we just finished our fun drinky time with Blake Stacey’s marvelous September talk, but it’s time to look to the future: Sid Rodrigues of London Skeptics in the Pub will be gracing our stage in two short weeks!
Also, we have the opportunity to get together the following Monday (the 27th). Are you all tuckered out, or ready for more? We could have a costume party, spooky-themed skeptical trivia, or just a night of hanging out.
OR, we could have a costumed skeptical bar hop on Friday the 31st. Please, people, tell me what to do! (I’m soliciting comments here, on Facebook, and Skepchick just to hedge my bets.) The full details of our October 20 event are after the jump!
